Yue Guang Bai "Silver Moonlight"
The name Yue Guang Bai, which means Moonlight White, refers to the beautiful dried leaves with their silvery buds and darker leaves. There are several stories surrounding the tea. According to some, the leaves are picked in moonlight and protected from sunlight, while others say they are harvested during the day but dried gently indoors in dim light. Regardless of the origin, the stories contribute to the tea's unique character.
The leaves are hand-processed with great care and gently sun-dried, giving the characteristic mix of silvery buds and larger dark leaves that develop through natural oxidation.
Unlike many other white teas from Yunnan, which consist solely of buds, Silver Moonlight also contains one or two young leaves next to the bud. This results in a fuller, more flavorful tea with a smooth and well-balanced character.
The taste is round and elegant with natural sweetness, soft woody notes and fruity and floral nuances reminiscent of cherry blossom. A complex and harmonious white tea that offers a long, smooth aftertaste.
For this tea, we suggest that you try the traditional Chinese Gong FU style to brew your tea. The idea behind this technology is to use greater proportions of tea leaves for water and very short break times. By using more tea leaves and having very short brewing, you only manage to extract parts of the entire taste spectrum. The tea can then be enjoyed in so -called "sections", which gives a much more nuanced experience. As the taste develops gradually and it is much more leaves, this contributes to a much more intense taste than when brewing in Western style.
