The tea estate of Puttabong, which is also known as Tukvar Tea Estate, was established in 1852 this is the first tea estate in the history of Darjeeling Tea Plantation. The tea estate stretches from an altitude of 1500 ft to 6500 ft above MSL. This garden is planted with Darjeeling Clonal, Chinary bushes and Clonal tea stock especially developed to meet the agro climatic conditions of the area. This garden is one of the biggest tea estates in Darjeeling. Tea area comprising of 5 divisions located at a stretch of approximately 20 Km from Darjeeling city to Sikkim State border. The tea produces a fresh floral liquor typical for a first flush, with a beautiful bright infusion.
