Located in the Ilam Valley in Nepal, more precisely near the famous Darjeeling tea province. Teas here have been growning since 1879. Among the Himalayan mountain area lies the small yet very modern tea factory Shangri-La Tea Estate at an altitude of 1500 meters. With it’s approximately 30 years’ experience the factory is still very new compared to neighboring estates. The yield is supplied by more than 600 smaller tea farmers from the region and supports their families’ livelihoods.
This exquisite tea highlights the ideal climatic conditions and unique terroir features of the Himalayan mountains. In this specific batch, the tea bush has developed a very unique and gentle aroma of light citrusy top notes followed by honeysuckle, floral notes and complex mineral undertones. This is one of our premium teas which we are proud to offer.
For this tea we suggest trying the Western-style of brewing. The idea behind it is to use much less leaf and much more water while brewing-times are much longer to extract as much of the flavor as possible at once.
This Bao Zhong is somewhat a more oxidized giving the tea a slight more roasted, nuttier tone whilst still exhibiting its rather heavenly floral notes.
Teas produced at Belseri are malty, with inherent character. 100% organic.
Relatively light but intensely aromatic, similar to Nuwara Eliya teas, yet rounded with a long, elegant aftertaste.
