The tea flavour develops into something round and mellow, slightly sweet with a touch of smokiness. There is some bitterness, which is usually released during the first minute of steeping. The taste is slightly more acidic, compared to other stronger green teas. Gunpowder tea is often exported to the northern African countries, where it is used in the preparation of traditional North African mint tea. The Moroccan tea ritual is at the heart of any social gathering, from an informal visit of a neighbour to lavish functions with dignitaries. Mint tea is made by adding mint and sugar or honey to gunpowder tea whilst brewing.

For this tea we suggest trying the Western-style of brewing. The idea behind it is to use much less leaf and much more water while brewing-times are much longer to extract as much of the flavor as possible at once.
