Located in the Mirik area in Darjeeling, the Singbulli estate is spread across 9 rolling hills over an area of 22 km with altitude varying between 360m to 1250m above sea level. Originally established in 1924 by British planters Singbulli Tea Estate is one of the prized tea estates renowned for its top-notch quality Darjeeling First Flush Teas. Among 6 tea estates belonging to Jay Shree Tea Ltd., Singbulli is one of their finest tea gardens in Darjeeling and is separated into four divisions. Namely Singbulli Division, Manja Division, Tingling Division and Murmah Division.
The plantation is very active in ecological up gradation and maintaining bio-diversity at the garden and has initiated various programmes for soil conservation and environmental protection. The garden management plants different types of grasses, leguminous crop, short height shrubs and tall trees in the fallow land all along the boundaries of the sections and in vacant patches. The estate has Fair Trade certification, DUTCH HACCP by SGS and is 100% organic certified by IMO Control.
Mainly focusing on the production of orthodox teas, we are proud to have been able to receive the first harvest of this Singbulli Moon shine DJ7. This is an absolute rarity from one of the top plantations in Darjeeling. The tea leaves come from the Chinese plant (camellia sinensis), are picked only in small quantities, and are treated using a special method. This gives a bronze-coloured tea, with a flowery and mild taste. Its unique aromatic character will be a delight to the true tea connoisseur.
For this tea we suggest trying the Western-style of brewing. The idea behind it is to use much less leaf and much more water while brewing-times are much longer to extract as much of the flavor as possible at once.
This tea produces a roasted and savoury nutty flavour,
Lightly oxidized, retaining many of the delicate floral aspects that are a closer to a light green tea without the grassiness or astringency.
Keemun Mao Feng is made up of full tea leaves and the taste is naturally sweet and strong with a matching aroma.
