Located in one of the most beautiful valleys, the Risheehat Tea Estate is famous for growing the best organic teas, largely thanks to its steep topography, rich and fertile soil, temperature and rainfall. The Risheehat garden is situated just 14 km east of the Darjeeling main city area which it faces, while enjoying a view of the beautiful Kanchanjangha peak to the north.
Risheehat translates to “Home of Holy Saints”, a name fully justified by the exotic quality of tea leaves that are grown in this estate. The garden was established by British planters in the mid 19th century and was previously known as Tsering Bagan after the Tsering tribe that populated the area.
Top quality teas have been produced at an altitude of 900 to 2000 metres above sea level for many decades in Risheehat. In 2010 the garden was granted organic status and has yearly been producing first-rate organic Darjeeling teas ever since. Tea lovers around the world praise and yearn for Risheehat teas which should be prepared with care.
The fruity and brisk notes of this lovely first flush (DJ-5/21) tickle the senses with the first sip, preparing you for the typical cut grass and floral notes that leave you wanting more.
The liquor has bright notes of cabbage and green grass, with a slightly spicy aftertaste. The dry leaf is a perfectly twisted and stylish shorter leaf, while the infusion is of bright honey or gold, reminiscent of shades seen in an alluring sunrise.
