Situated just below the Darjeeling province in India lies the beautiful valleys of Assam. The mountainous area surrounding the province results to stagnated rainwater, giving the Assam tea plant enough fresh water to absorb and enrich its body, briskness, malty flavour, and strong, bright colour.

This particular Assam is produced by “Meleng Tea Estate”. The dream of one pioneer and entrepreneur Mr. J.E. Todd to become a planter/owner was conceptualized in the year 1856 in the form of Meleng Tea Estate. The estate was selected among the world heritage sites of Gibbon forest on the bank of river Meleng, thus, the name “Meleng” was given to the plantation. The Estate is one of the oldest tea plantations of Assam with a variety of clonal bushes, which make its teas exotic and full of quality.

This floral, milky and sweet First Flush Assam OR/10/20 is the perfect brew for anyone wanting a rich and deep brew with added elegance.

The “Liquor” has notes of dried fruit, dates, raisins. The “Dry leaf” is a fine evenly cut dark leaf. Whilst the “Infusion” is dark orange, clear infusion with its lovely golden rim around the cup.

Serving tips

For this tea we suggest trying the Western-style of brewing. The idea behind it is to use much less leaf and much more water while brewing-times are much longer to extract as much of the flavor as possible at once.
