Finally, we can introduce our 2022 harvest of Japanese teas. These were already flown in during July 2022 and we have been excited to present them to you.

Japanese tea differs tremendously from the rest of the world’s varieties. Although the majority of Japanese teas are green, they bear very little resemblance to their Chinese counterparts. While China’s green tea tradition is based on pure, light, roasted characteristics, in Japan we find fuller teas, rich in umami and often with marine notes.

Of course, they are a perfect complement to Japanese cuisine, but also exceptionally good with a fine fish or shellfish dish. You also get a very elegant and unique contrast pairing with Japanese teas served on the side of certain sweet desserts and cheeses. It’s well worth trying a Gyokuro or finer Sencha instead of wine with that dessert cheese
